Going Deeper Questions

  1. Read Acts 1:22; 2:24, 32, 3:15, 26; 4:2, 10, 33; 5:30; 10:40; 13:29-30; 17:18. Why was it so important that the disciples made the resurrection of Jesus a key part of their message?

  2. Why might someone ask this question in Romans 6:1?

  3. Robert Yarbrough says: “To ‘live in’ sin…to ‘continue in sin’…denotes life under the lordship not of Christ but of the flesh, or the desire to please oneself and not obey God and his Word.” What sin are you allowing in your life? What will you do about it?

  4. What does it mean to be baptized into Christ’s death (Romans 6:3)?

  5. Have you been baptized? If not, what has stood in your way? The next baptism Sunday is May 5. Contact Pastor Adam if you have questions (autecht@ccfdl.org)!

  6. How do we receive newness of life (Romans 6:4)? Have you recived this newness of life?

  7. Read Galatians 2:20. How does this change everything?

  8. Robert Yarbrough says: “However much we struggle with sin in this life, to die is to cease the struggle. Sin has no hold on a corpse.”

  9. Doug Moo says: “[Christ’s] resurrection spelled the beginning of the new age of redemption, in which sin and death are being vanquished.” How have you seen this in your life?

  10. Doug Moo says: “Being ‘dead to sin’ and ‘alive to God’ is a state achieved only in union with Christ, who himself died to sin and is alive to God.” Are you in union with Christ? How do you know?

  11. How can we find joy even in the midst of difficulty (see 1 Pet. 1:8-9)?
