Going Deeper Questions

.) Some people think the Bible is just a book of rules that we’re supposed to follow. While the Bible does contain a lot of instruction and even commands, what is at the core of Christianity? See Ephesians 2:8-10.

.) We are instructed many times to love one another (Jn. 15:17; Rom. 13:8; 1 Pt. 1:22; 1 Jn. 3:23; et al). What makes it difficult to love other people, even other Christians? What are we supposed to do when our fellow Christians sin against us? See Matthew 18:15-35; Galatians 6:1.

.) “Hospitality” does not always involve having people in your home. In what ways can you show hospitality to people at work? At church? In your neighborhood?

.) Read Luke 10:25-37. What kind of excuses do people make to overlook the suffering of others? What kind of suffering do you know about? Who are the people God has brought across your path? What is one small thing you can do to help them? (See below for more ideas)

.) Why does God care about marriage so much? See Genesis 2:18-25; Ephesians 5:22-33. The author of Hebrews says that “marriage should be honored by all” (Hebrews 13:4). How are people who aren’t married supposed to honor marriage?

.) Some people think the Bible says “money is the root of all evil”. What does it actually say? See Hebrews 13:5; 1 Timothy 6:10. Does the Bible teach that it’s wrong to gain a lot of money/wealth? If not, how are we to worship/serve God with it? See Proverbs 13:22; Matthew 6:19-24; 25:14-30; Ephesians 4:28; 1 Timothy 5:8; 6:17-19.

.) If we are going to love other people and do good works, where do we need to start? See John 15:1-17. What does it look like to stay connected to the Vine from day to day? Why do you think Christians often overlook this step?
