Whole-Person Discipleship: Following Christ Through Emotional and Spiritual Complexity

Breakout Sessions 1 and 2
About the Session

Human beings—created in the image of God—are an inseparable blend of emotional, spiritual, and physical realities. Our experiences, especially trauma and hardship, profoundly shape how we think, feel, and respond to the world. In this breakout session, we will survey the life of Joseph, exploring how God worked through profound family dysfunction and personal suffering to accomplish His redemptive purposes. Joseph’s story reveals that the path of obedience is seldom linear or easy, yet followers of Christ can learn to face life’s challenges with resilience, clarity, and a Spirit-formed awareness. Participants will leave equipped to walk confidently with Christ in the midst of emotional complexity and real-world difficulty.

About Ken

Ken Nabi serves as the Regional President of Converge Great Lakes--a movement of 110 churches which Community Church of Fond du Lac is part of. As a former professional therapist, pastor, author, and coach, Ken's speaking has a strong application to real life struggles. Married 38 years to Karen and raising 4 sons has been his greatest joy.

Walking: A Physical Exercise and An Exercise in Worship

Breakout Sessions 1 and 3
About the Session

We walk all the time, but are we walking with God all the time? Scripture asks us to walk in the Spirit; walk in His precepts; walk in His law; and walk with Christ and more.  We will explore the why, when, and how to walk with God. It sounds so easy, but it takes intentionality.

About Rebecca

Rebecca is a native Texan and has been a proud Wisconsin transplant for over 20 years.  She has a Doctor of Ministry degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.  She has recently retired from the Green Lake Conference Center and enjoys teaching online seminary classes.  She has joined a new ministry called Second Act Career Services – helping people who need fresh starts.  Rebecca is currently a member of Edgewood Community Church in Fond du Lac.

Wounded Culture Wounding Women: Hope for healing both

Breakout Sessions 1 and 3
About the Session

Popular culture claims that to be pro-woman is to be pro-abortion. That couldn’t be further from the truth. A hidden and seldom mentioned trauma happens in the aftermath, and apart from Christ the wounds cannot be healed.  Leaning into Isaiah 61 Cindy will share her testimony discovering freedom from the guilt, shame, and trauma of abortion while also sharing the truth about God’s forgiving and redeeming power.  Woundedness has many faces, Christ is the answer to all.  Come to find healing, or come to learn how to spare others great pain by exposing the cultural lie that pro-abortion is pro-woman.

About Cindy

Cindy is a lover of the Word, always learning, always sharpening, seeking closeness.  Cindy and her husband, Jim, worked over 30 years in missions ministry, serving long term in Mexico and the Dominican Republic.  More recently Cindy served 5 years as the executive director at Charis Pregnancy & Family Help Center in Fond du Lac. She enjoys nurturing deep friendships, especially when the conversations turn toward Christ.

If God, Why Evil?

Breakout Sessions 2 and 3
About the Session

This world is broken.  The Holocaust, 9/11, Rwanda, and many other evil events have led to so much suffering.  How could a good and powerful God exist in this world?  Does the Christian have any substantial response?  In this breakout session, we'll look at the different worldviews on evil and suffering and how they compare to Christianity.  We'll aim to tackle this topic at a head (intellectual), heart (relational), and hands (practical) level.

About Dave

A sinner saved by grace, Dave has been married to his wife, Angela, since 2010, and they have been blessed with 5 kids.  Dave has fourteen years of youth pastor experience.  Currently, he works as a Church Ambassador for Wisconsin Family Council.  Dave connects shepherds in the church (pastors) to shepherds at the capitol (elected officials).  Opening the word, sharing the gospel, and praying for them is the recipe for each meeting.  He is also pursuing a master's degree in Christian Apologetics at Southern Evangelical Seminary.  He loves coffee, God’s Word, a good podcast, sports, theology, apologetics, working out, and all things protein-related.

A Rooted Life

Breakout Sessions 2 and 3
About the Session

How are you dear sister? Are you struggling, weary? Is life going well right now? Wherever you are, come and take a walk with me.  Be encouraged and inspired to be an encourager by standing firm in His truth. We’ll take a little journey together in his word, walking a path taking us deeper in his love, faithfulness and hope for the days we are living in.  We can have a secure foundation “rooted and grounded in love” (Ephesians 3:14-19), as we walk the paths He has for us.

Joy in Suffering: A Christian Response

Breakout Sessions 1 and 2
About the Session

Whether we're prepared for it or not, suffering is a part of life. How we respond to suffering can be the difference between keeping our sanity or losing it, between honoring God or dishonoring Him. In this breakout session, we will look at what the Bible says about suffering and talk about how we can keep our joy and peace when life gets hard.

About Mark

Mark met his wife, Tiffani, while attending Trinity International University in Deerfield, IL. They both graduated in May of 2007 (B.A. in Christian Ministries) and were married a few months later.

Before coming to Community Church in the summer of 2018, Mark worked at Campus Life of Sheboygan County for 11 years. His many years working with teenagers (answering their tough questions and helping them with various problems) led him to pursue training in Biblical Counseling and he received his certification with the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC) in 2019. He is thankful for the opportunity to continue using his talents and passions to share the Good News of Jesus with others and disciple them to follow Christ more closely

So far, God has blessed Mark and Tiffani with seven children. People often tell them, “You’ve got your hands full,” but Mark and Tiffani can’t think of a better way to be using their time than raising their kids to be serving in the Kingdom of God. Whether Mark is spending time with his family, serving in ministry, or competing in athletics, he always makes it his aim to glorify God in whatever he is doing (1 Cor. 10:31).
