Filled with Power

1. Read Acts 1 in its entirety. How many disciples were there? What did the disciples do after the ascension of Jesus?

2. What is Jesus’ promise to his disciples in Acts 1:8? What is the Spirit’s responsibility? What is their responsibility? How does this apply to us today?

3. How were the disciples obedient to Jesus’ command in Acts 2:1?

4. Read Acts 2:2 and Genesis 1:2. What is the Spirit of God doing? How is the Spirit like wind?

5. Read Ezekiel 37:1-14. What is the Spirit’s role in this text? What is Ezekiel’s role? How does this apply to us today?

6. How did the disciples speak in languages they never knew before (see Acts 2:4)? Have you ever encountered someone speaking in tongues? Have you personally ever spoken in tongues?

7. Read instructions on speaking in tongues in 1 Cor. 14. What did you learn? What is the proper use of speaking in tongues? What is improper?

8. Read Acts 2:5-8. How do the foreigners respond to the disciples speaking in tongues? Read the rest of Acts 2. What is the result of the Holy Spirit’s work through Peter’s sermon?

9. Read Ephesians 5:18-20. What does it look like to be filled with the Spirit according to these verses? How will you apply these verses this week?

10. Read Matthew 10:16-20. How does the Holy Spirit give us power to witness? Read 2 Timothy 1:7. What does God give us?

11. Read John 16:13. How does the Holy Spirit give us power to discern truth? Why is that so important today?

12. How does the Holy Spirit give us power to change? In what ways will you repent, keep in step with the Spirit (Galatians 5:16, 25), and seek the Spirit (Luke 11:13) this week?
