Sermon Notes

THROUGH THE                                OF THE SCRIPTURES (ROMANS 15:4)

HE HAS GIVEN US GREAT AND PRECIOUS                                (2 PETER 1:4)

FOR WE WALK BY                                AND NOT BY

(2 COR. 5:7)

……………

God’s call to live by faith and not by sight.

o Through anything that comes in life

                                God’s promises on your heart.

o Sense God pressing them into you.

                                God’s promises to others.

o Encourage them to walk by faith through God’s promises.

Going Deeper Questions

1 Peter: 1:3-9

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his

great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the

resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to an inheritance that is

imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, 5 who by

God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be

revealed in the last time. 6 In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if

necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, 7 so that the tested

genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is

tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the

revelation of Jesus Christ. 8 Though you have not seen him, you love him.

Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is

inexpressible and filled with glory, 9 obtaining the outcome of your faith, the

salvation of your souls.

John 14:1-7

“Don’t let your heart be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.

2 In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told

you that I am going to prepare a place for you? 3 If I go away and prepare a

place for you, I will come again and take you to myself, so that where I am

you may be also. 4 You know the way to where I am going.” 5 “Lord,” Thomas

said, “we don’t know where you’re going. How can we know the way? ”

6 Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the

Father except through me.

Revelation 21:1-7

Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first

earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. 2 I also saw the holy city, the

new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared like a bride

adorned for her husband. 3 Then I heard a loud voice from the throne: Look,

God’s dwelling is with humanity, and he will live with them. They will be

his peoples, and God himself will be with them and will be their God. 4 He will

wipe away every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; grief, crying,

and pain will be no more, because the previous things have passed away.

5 Then the one seated on the throne said, “Look, I am making everything new.”

He also said, “Write, because these words are faithful and true.” 6 Then he said

to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. I

will freely give to the thirsty from the spring of the water of life. 7 The one who

conquers will inherit these things, and I will be his God, and he will be my son.

Revelations 22:3-5

The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will

worship him. 4 They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads.

5 Night will be no more; people will not need the light of a lamp or the light of

the sun, because the Lord God will give them light, and they will reign forever

and ever.

Revelation 22:7

“Look, I am coming soon!

WE HAVE HOPE THROUGH THE

ENCOURAGEMENT OF THE SCRIPTURES

2 Peter 1: 3

His divine power has given us everything required for

life and godliness through the knowledge of him who

called us by his own glory and goodness. 4 By these he

has given us very great and precious promises, so that

through them you may share in the divine nature. John 3:14-18

Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must

be lifted up, 15 so that everyone who believes in him may have eternal

life. 16 For God loved the world in this way: He gave his one and only

Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have

eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the

world, but to save the world through him. 18 Anyone who believes in him is

not condemned, but anyone who does not believe is already condemned,

because he has not believed in the name of the one and only Son of God.

Proverbs 3:5-6

5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own

understanding; 6 in all your ways know him, and he will direct your paths.

Deut. 31:8

The LORD is the one who will go before you. He will be with you; he will

not leave you or abandon you. Do not be afraid or discouraged.

Isaiah 41:10

10 Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God.

I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will hold on to you with my

righteous right hand.

Romans 8:26-30

26 In the same way the Spirit also helps us in our weakness, because we do

not know what to pray for as we should, but the Spirit himself

intercedes for us with inexpressible groanings. 27 And he who searches

our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because he intercedes for the saints

according to the will of God.

28 We know that all things work together for the good of those who love

God, who are called according to his purpose. 29 For those he foreknew

he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, so that he

would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. 30 And those he

predestined, he also called; and those he called, he also justified; and those

he justified, he also glorified.
