Going Deeper Questions
.) Read 1 Peter 5:8. What does it mean to be “sober-minded” and “alert/watchful”? How should the knowledge that Satan is prowling around like a lion impact the way I approach my day-to-day life?
.) C. S. Lewis famously wrote in his book, The Screwtape Letters: “There are two equal and opposite errors into which our race can fall about the devils. One is to disbelieve in their existence. The other is to believe, and to feel an excessive and unhealthy interest in them.” Which of these errors do you think you most tend toward? What do you think a healthy, biblical approach looks like?
.) In 2 Corinthians 2:11, Paul says that we are not ignorant of Satan’s schemes. We know that he uses distractions, temptations, and accusations to keep us as ineffective as possible. What variations of these tactics do you think the enemy has used to keep you from making progress in the past? What has God given you that you can use to defend yourself against these kinds of attacks? (see Eph. 6:10-20)
.) Read 2 Corinthians 10:3-5. Paul says that the weapons we fight with are divinely powerful. What weapons do you think he’s talking about? How do we use them to demolish strongholds? Why do you think many Christians aren’t using these weapons effectively?
.) What one, simple change do you think Satan least wants you to make in 2026? In other words, what one, small shift could you make in your prayer life, Bible reading, marriage/family, church involvement, interactions with unbelievers, etc. that would threaten the kingdom of darkness and advance the Kingdom of God?
.) How can you plan and prepare so that this change is likely to stick? How can you pray and ask for God’s help in this process? Who can you ask to pray for you as you try to put your plan into action?
