Going Deeper

I. The Battle Requires Both Prayer and ACTION (v. 9–11)

A. Joshua trusts and obeys. (v. 9)

God is ultimately the center of this story. Who won the battle? God won the battle.

They don’t have any training, experience, or weapons facing ruthless and evil Amalekites who participated in shrine prostitution, sexual sin, murder, adult and child sacrifice, violence, merciless killing, and even cannibalism.

Would you have trusted and obeyed in this battle?

B. Israel Fights v. (10-13)

C. Israel had to participate.

God doesn’t remove our battles, he strengthens us through them.

What is a battle you are facing today? How is God strengthening you through it?

Who is fighting alongside you?

How are you surrendering that battle to God?

Following God doesn’t mean we won’t face battles.

It means that when we surrender to him and trust in him, he will fight for us.

II. We all have a role to play (v. 9-13)

What are your spiritual gifts? How are you using them to expand God’s Kingdom? Who are you discipling? Who is discipling you?

A. God has a design for his people.

Matthew 28:19-20

B. Trust God. Step up.

III. REMEMBER our source of victory (v. 14–16) REPEAT

Ephesians 6:12

Matthew 11:28-30

Colossians 2:12-15

Romans 10:13

1 Corinthians 15:57

Are you tired of fighting the battle alone? Give it to God.
