The Staff

As Staff our Mission Statement is:
We create the environment that helps more people become wholehearted followers of Christ through evaluation, encouragement, and empowerment.

Meet Our Pastors and Directors...

Ken Nabi
Senior Pastor

Ken joined our staff in November of 1995 as Pastor of Adult Ministries. In the fall of 2001 he transitioned to the Executive Pastor position. In July of 2002, Ken was unanimously voted in as our Senior Pastor which allows him to cast the vision for the future of Community Church.
After graduating from Tennessee Tech with a Bachelor degree in Psychology in 1987, Ken earned a Masters degree from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in 1989. He worked as an outpatient therapist prior to joining our pastoral team. He and his wife, Karen, were married in 1987. They adopted their son, Josiah, from Korea during the summer of 1998, and Ellis and Aidan, twin boys also from Korea, in April 2002. In April of 2008, Ken & Karen experienced the miraculous first-hand with the birth of their son, Bennett. Ken’s interests include drinking lattes, fly-fishing, reading, changing diapers, cooking, and spending time with his family. Email Ken.

David Mundt
Adult Ministry Pastor

David grew up in Iowa (no, not on a farm; and yes, there is more than just cornfields there!). He has two older brothers, Todd and Joel, and his parents still live in the same house, which means each visit is full of childhood memories. David joined the Community Church staff in December of 2001. A graduate from Trinity College in Deerfield, IL (B.A., 1992) and from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (M.Div., 1996), David served as an associate pastor in WA and IA prior to coming to Fond du Lac. David and his wife, Kristi, were married in 1993 and they have three daughters: Rebecca (September 1997), Alisa (January 2001), and Megan (December 2002). David enjoys being with family, playing ping-pong, and reading (click HERE to see what he's read recently). His responsibilities at the church include leading or overseeing all ministries for adults, college-age and older. Email David.

Shannon Colwin
Student Ministry Director

Shannon joined the Community Church team in July of 2003. He grew up in Fond du Lac at Community Church and graduated from Goodrich High School in 1996. Four years later he graduated from Huntington College (now Huntington University) in Huntington, IN, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Youth Ministry. Following college, Shannon served as a Youth Pastor in Huntington, IN until coming to Community Church. Shannon and his wife, Leslie, were married in August of 2001. Among other outdoor activities like camping and mountain biking, they enjoy good tunes, good coffee (especially in quaint settings), and dreaming of adventure vacations. Shannon and Leslie have two bright and shining daughters, Alena Hope and Luscia Faye Ellen, whom they adore. Email Shannon.

Kathy Heinzelman
Children's Ministry Director

Shortly after moving to Oakfield in 1992, Kathy has been involved our Children’s Ministry in one way or another. She started on staff in August 2000, as the Children’s Ministry Assistant. Some of those responsibilities included the planning and preparation of the CZ Sunday morning program for kids in grades 2nd—5th, developing and organizing special events; assisting in leadership and volunteer training; and enlisting new volunteer staff. As Director, she continues these responsibilities and oversees the total educational ministry program offered to children from nursery through 5th grade. Kathy graduated from the University of Wisconsin–LaCrosse, and along with her degree and many job and volunteer experiences, she brings a lot of “depth” to the ministry. Kathy LOVES working with the kids of Community—because she’s just a big “kid” at heart!! Just ask the volunteers!!! Kathy and her husband, Joe, have two children, Tyler (Maria) and Tina (Josh), and two adorable grandchildren, Emma and Micah!! She and Joe enjoy traveling, the great outdoors, and making their home in Oakfield. Email Kathy.

Maggie Matysik
Administrative Assistant to the Senior Pastor

Margaret Matysik joined our staff in January 2005. She works as the Administrative Assistant to Senior Pastor Ken Nabi. Maggie is also quite active in Music Ministry, playing piano for the Worship Teams. She and her husband, John, have three children—Christopher, Nicholas, and Katherine and her biggest challenge is juggling all the day-to-day activities that come with a family of five! Musical theatre is a favorite of Maggie’s and she gets to enjoy that when she accompanies shows for Fond du Lac Community Theatre. She also serves on the Fond du Lac Community Theatre Board as one of their officers. In her spare time, Maggie enjoys hiking, bike riding, and game nights (though she is known to be a bit competitive!) Email Maggie.

Ashley Schmidt

Ashley grew up around Oconomowoc Wisconsin and moved to Fond du Lac to attend Marian College to pursue a degree in elementary and middle school education. She is very excited to follow her passion by working with the children of CZ. During her free time, Ashley enjoys spending time with friends and family, reading a good book, and skiing. She and her college sweetheart, Chris, were married in 2008 and have settled down in the Fond du Lac area. They have been attending Community since 2006 and have been slowly getting more involved through ASCENT. Email Ashley.

Kimberly King

For fun, Nancy loves rolling the dice at Bunco, having coffee with friends at the Bagelmeister, traveling, Brewers baseball, and Wisconsin Badger football. Keeping the Resource Center updated, relevant, and smooth-running are important goals. Her husband, Kevin, and two daughters, Lia and Anna, are her full-time job, but Gail has always greatly enjoyed pursuing learning and relaxing through reading as a hobby.
