The following classes are offered to help you grow in your Christian life. Please feel free to
sign up for any that would be helpful to you as you seek to grow. You can sign up using the back of your Welcome Card, or by contacting Jodie Stowe (jstowe@ccfdl.org, 922-1477).

  • NEW BEGINNINGS
If you recently committed your life to Jesus, or recently renewed a relationship with the Lord after having fallen away for a while, we would like to invite you to this class. Using a mixture of lecture and Q&A, this class will provide a simple introduction to walking with the Lord and growing in your faith. This 8-week class will be held on Wednesday evenings from 6:30-8:30 P.M. beginning on October 6. There is no cost for this class. TEACHER: David Mundt
  • UNDERSTAND THE TIMES
“Reviving the Soul … Making wise the simple… Rejoicing the heart … Enlightening the eyes” Who wouldn’t want all these things manifest in their life? Taken from Psalm 19, all are referring to the perfect Word of God, our Bibles. Our Understand the Times class will help you know what is meant by a biblical worldview, its priceless value, how to get it, and how to distinguish it from the counterfeits that dominate our culture and lead to deadly deception. This class is designed to set you on a course that can lead to biblical wisdom, for yourself and those you minister to. “See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy” which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ (Colossians 2:8). This 4-week class will be held Sundays during the 10:45 A.M. service beginning on October 10. There is no cost for this class. TEACHER: Gail McCray
  • EVANGELISM THAT WORKS
Many of us have friends, neighbors, and co-workers who do not have a relationship with the Lord; and we want to talk to them about Jesus but we just don’t know what to say. Using a combination of DVD and lecture, this class will teach you how to build relationships with people so that talking about your faith is natural and normal, how to talk about Jesus so that the gospel makes sense, and how to share your faith in a way that is clear and compelling. This 2-session class begins on Friday evening, October 22, from 6-9 P.M. and concludes on Saturday morning, October 23, from 8 A.M.- 12NOON. The cost of the class is $12. TEACHER: David Mundt
  • DISCOVERING YOUR SPIRITUAL GIFTS
Want to get involved at the church but you’re not sure what option to choose? This course is designed to help believers discover their Spiritual gifts and God-given uniqueness that will enable them to serve Him in a way that is not only more effective, but also more satisfying and energizing. This course will challenge you to live for the glory of God, helping you to discover His plan and purpose for your life as you join the greatest endeavor available to mankind: building the church of Jesus Christ. This is a 2-session course followed with a consultation to assist you in getting plugged into an area of ministry that is a great fit for you. This class is being offered at church beginning on Friday, October 29, 6:30-9 P.M. and concluding on Saturday, October 30, from 8:30 A.M. to 12NOON. TEACHER: Gail McCray
  • MARRIAGE WORKSHOP
On November 13-14, we will be hosting David and Phyllis Howie for their Enriched Christian Marriage Workshop. This 2-day experience will deepen intimacy and connectedness, deepen your understanding of your spouse, and strengthen your communication and conflict resolution skills. More details will be coming in the weeks ahead. Be sure to mark this weekend on your calendar now. You won’t want to miss this. If you have immediate questions, please contact David Mundt.
  • THE WORD
This is a 1-year theology class for the men of Community Church. Beginning September 23 at 6:30 P.M. this once-a-month class will work it’s way through more than a dozen key theological categories, using Wayne Grudem’s Bible Doctrine book as the foundation. Cost for this class is approximately $90. For more information please contact Brian Petersen.

Do you have a health challenge that is causing you stress or confusion? PARISH NURSES are available anytime to answer questions, visit, pray with you, provide support, information, referrals, arrange transportation, and advocate for people throughout all stages of life. Barb Kuhls, RN (morning) and LouAnne Daniels, RN (afternoon) are also here on site in Room 154 on Tuesdays from 10 A.M. to 2 P.M. No appointment is necessary. As a ministry of Christian service shaped by Christ’s concern for the whole person, and the whole body of believers, Parish Nursing is dedicated to the wellness of individuals, families, and the congregation.

ASTOP GIFT BAGS: If you are interested in finding out more about how to help with this outreach to hurting women in the community, check out the display in the lobby this Sunday or contact Susan Baganz at silygoos@fastbytes.com. We can let you know of the more specific needs we have at this time.

MAKE A DIFFERENCE… BE A BUCKET FILLER! On Sunday, September 12 we kick off our fall CZ programming at 9 & 10:45 A.M. We’re excited for all the kids to join us for a fun year of learning more about God as we study His Word and how we can support, encourage, and be a positive influence in the lives of others! Please help with the transition as some kids move into new classrooms and meet new leaders. Let’s help this be a great year by praying for them, encouraging them, reading their Bibles with them, and bringing them to CZ!

GROUP — FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS :
Sunday, September 12, 5-7:30 P.M. Start the year right with a cookout! (Guys bring sides, girls bring desserts. Each person bring a friend!) We’ll start a new series called X FACTOR. We’ll take a look at GALATIANS 3:26-4:7 and see that what we believe makes us what we are. Believing God is our Father means we are children of God!

CROSSROADS—FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS : Wednesday, September 8, 7-8:30 P.M. Calling all middle school students…come start the new year at CrossRoads! Reconnect with friends, play games, and dig into God’s word with the series 18 INCHES. Eighteen inches is the distance between our head and our heart. There’s a big difference between knowing about God in our heads and really knowing Him in our hearts. This is a great time to bring your friends!

FOCUS MINISTRY (Singles age 30-50) will not meet this Friday, September 10. Regular meetings will resume next week. Questions, contact Paul Bleuel at 322-0817 or ILUVTRAINS46@YAHOO.COM.

THE OFFICE WILL BE CLOSED Monday, September 6 because of the Labor Day holiday. Regular office hours will resume on Tuesday, September 7 at 9 A.M.

ASCENT WILL BE TAKING A BREAK from their regular schedule. Chris & Ashley look forward to reconnect with friends and picking up with a new ASCENT SERIES IN LATE FALL. Stay tuned...!

ASCENT stands for a steadfast community of eighteen, nineteen, and twenty-somethings. It’s a place wide open to anyone 18-29 who desires to be a part of a community of love, encouragement, support, and accountability. As a community we pick one another up, offer support in life’s trials, and serve God collectively as one.

Single and between 30 & 50? The FOCUS GROUP would like to meet you! FOCUS is specifically geared for men and women—single, divorced, or widowed who want strong friendships and a strong faith. For details, contact Paul Bleuel (or ILUVTRAINS46@YAHOO.COM) or Althea Zamzow (AMZAMZOW@CHARTER.NET) or go to WWW.CCFDL.ORG and check out their ministry page (under the Adult ministries link).

Those interested in the NURSING HOME MINISTRY contact: KEN HUELSMAN at khhuelsy@charter.net.

OVER 50 AND EXCITED ABOUT THE YEARS AHEAD? So are we! Come and join the SECOND HALF FOR HIM group, a group of men and women, married and single, who are over 50 and excited about all that God has in store for them in the years ahead. For details, contact David Mundt (dmundt@ccfdl.org) or go to WWW.CCFDL.ORG and check out their webpage (under the Adult ministries link).

DIVORCECARE If you are experiencing the pain and upheaval of divorce, we would like to come alongside to support and encourage you. We don’t want you to have to walk this painful journey alone. If you are interested in attending, please contact Tom and Ann Santy (santyreb@att.net) for details.

There is a MEN’S EARLY MORNING BIBLE STUDY that meet here at 6:15 a.m. each week. All men are welcome to join us at Community Church every Thursday morning. If you are interested, contact Lee Portman at leeportman@tds.net.

BIBLE READING PLANS AVAILABLE Many of us desire to read our Bibles more regularly, though busyness and other priorities often seem to get in the way. To help you, we have provided at our Welcome Center a reading plan that will enable you to read through the Bible this year, reading only 3-4 chapters each day. Please feel free to stop by and pick one up. You can also go online and find others there. We encourage you because reading God’s Word regularly is one of the most important steps you can take toward spiritual growth.

CAN WE VISIT? If you have a family member or close friend in the hospital or a nursing home and you think they would appreciate a visit, please contact Ken Huelsman (KHHUELSY@CHARTER.NET). When people from the church are admitted to the hospital, the hospital no longer contacts the church to inform us, so we appreciate you letting us know. Also, if you are interested in serving on the visiting teams, please let Ken Huelsman know, as he is working to assemble a couple of visitation teams.
